Mint Julep #2

  • 2½ to 3 ounces Rich Grain Distilling Co. Corn Whiskey
  • 1 sprig of mint
  • ½ ounce mint-flavored simple syrup (directions above)
  • Crushed ice
  • 1 metal cup (silver or pewter preferred)

Pour simple syrup and 1 ounce of corn whiskey into bottom of cup. Fill cup with crushed ice and add remaining whiskey. Garnish with fresh sprig of mint.

Mint Flavored Syrup

  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Raw Turbinado Sugar
  • 1 Cup Fresh Mint Leaves

Heat 1 cup of water to a simmer and slowly dissolve 1 cup of sugar into the syrup. After the sugar’s dissolved, remove from the heat and add 1 cup of mint leaves and let steep; hot syrup draws out the mint flavor. Strain out the leaves and let syrup cool.
